Taking the PSP battery life to the max!

Pros Huge battery life, Very sturdy case, Good speakers, Dual headphone jacks
Cons Rather heavy, Viewing stand not adjustable, Connection covers don't stay put, Expensive
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  It?s a great accessory for extending the battery life and adding broader sound to the PSP. If you can live with the design shortcomings, I would recommend it.
The Nyko Theater Experience is great for extending the battery life of your PSP and to add more powerful speakers than those on the PSP. But for the price, don't expect too much. I purchased this because I take my PSP on long flights for entertainment. The Nyko Theater Experience keeps my PSP going during even the longest of flights by adding about 7 extra hours of battery life. The dual headphones are also handy if the person sitting next to you wants to watch also. Wrapped in the aluminum case, the PSP is very secure. All this protection comes at a price in weight. Not only does the accessory look like a big black brick, it also weights the same too. The speakers are what you would expect from such a small form factor with crisp highs and moderate mids. They were able to handle a dynamic range of sounds with good stereo imaging. This accessory utilizes the power adapter that came with the PSP to charge the internal battery and the PSP at the same time. It does come with short cables allowing someone to play with the Nyko Theater Experience connected to the PSP while not in the cradle. The disappointing aspects of the design are in the stand and the covers for the front connectors. The stand holds the PSP up as what is advertised as the "ideal viewing" angle. What is "ideal" for them may not be ideal for us. They actually state in the manual to move the unit closer and away from you if you want to adjust the viewing angle. This is because the stand only has two positions; open and closed. Pushing the unit away from the view is an interesting solution until it's wedged against the seat in front of me in coach. With some modifications, I was able to solve this problem and now it stays put at many angles. As for the connection covers over the headphones and adapter ports, I wonder why they even bothered with the way they designed them. The slightest bump or movement makes the covers fall out and hang freely, just waiting to be torn off. They also get in the way when trying to plug anything in the ports. With all the designing that went into this device, they could have done better. The push button latch to open the case also allows for the case to be opened accidentally.
