Maybe OK, customer service a nightmare

Pros TV was great when worked for 2 months.
Cons Earns my nomination for worst customer service. Takes 8 months to solve problem.
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  My experience with this TV has taught me to never buy Samsung again. The TV stopped working and so far it is taking 8 months to solve a problem.
Bought TV in July 2003, shut itself off permamently in September. Called Samsung for Service and given contact for service center (Montreal, Canada). Technician came, couldn't fix it, said will be back in one week. Two weeks pass and no show, so we call and they say they are very busy but will come in one week. They come and pick up the TV, try to fix it but need a part from Samsung: this takes 2 months. They return the TV on Dec. 24 but image is curved and they can't fix it. We call Samsung to complain and talk to a very rude agent, he says he will contact the service centre. When he does he tells us that the service centre lost our file so they can't see how many times we've called to ask about the progress . (In the meantime we get very frustrated calling back and forth). Gives us another service centre. They pick up the TV and say that can't fix it. We call Future Shop to see if they will replace it or do anything. They call Samsung for authorization. This takes 2-3 weeks. The TV is finally shipped to Samsung for replacement but can't replace because not in stock. They ask if we can wait 2 months for new model. We agree, but ask that the TV be upgraded to a better model, for our frustration and inconvenience (heck, even pizza is free if can't deliver in 30 minutes). They tell us we must pay the difference!!!! In the meantime no apologies.
We have called Samsung and the two service centres a total of 17 times over 8 months. Do you think a customer deserves better treatment???
I will never buy anything made or linked to Samsung and will make it a personal quest to influence electronics purchases decisions of as many people as I can. I have already succeeded with two of my colleagues... they did not buy Samsung.
