M:Robe Vs. IPOD
Pros
touch screen, camera, 20 gig internal memory, all the accessories it came with.
Cons
lags and the software. picture quality.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
Ipod vs M:Robe...The winner is....Ipod. Only because of the different problems you can encounter with it.
My fiance' bought this mp3 player for me for Christmas. I wanted an mp3 player so bad and looked at all the available ones out there and this one caught my eye.
Compared to the IPOD its has a smaller internal memory, but unlike the IPOD it has a digital camera built in. The camera is better then your phone's camera, but its not the quality you will get from an actual digital camera.
The software it comes with doesn't always want to work and if your running vista forget about it. Its only supported on Xp and earlier. You cant just copy and paste to the hard drive unless your using it for storage. In order to be able to play the mp3 files you have to use the m:trip software and sync it. If you are syncing a lot of songs it can take hours and hope it doesn't die. It will not charge while syncing. So you are better off doing little by little.
Switching between songs via the touch screen or the included remote is a bit slow it tends to lag a lot, epically if you have a lot of songs on there. You can browse through all your songs by artist, album, etc. You can also let it play random songs. You can also get the album cover and lyrics on there. So you can learn every word to all your favorite songs.
It has some other options like a slide show of your pics while your listening to your music, but that is not really that useful. It has a built in flash/light for the camera but it doesn't really help when taking pics at night. If you get a song that has a virus in it and you put it on the m:robe you will kill the hard drive. Even if you do a factory reset it will not get rid of it. You will have to buy a new hard drive for it. I had that problem and so have many people from what I have read in different forums.
All in all its a decent mp3 player. It may take some time to get to the song you want but after a while you wont even notice it because you will get use to the lag. Having to use the software and only the software it comes with is a bit annoying but the ipod is the same way.
If you asked me. Ipod or m:robe, I would tell you to get the Ipod if you can afford it. Otherwise get the m:robe. You will be happy with it.
