Cons Initial start-up can be slow, stops reading recordable media after a few months

When I wrote this review originally, I was very happy with this drive. However, a few months later, I'm much less enthusiastic. After only using a few times to burn DVDs, I recently went to do a long overdue backup - and found that the drive would not recognize ANY recordable... Read full review »

I got this on Christmas Eve in 2004. While my Dad overpaid at the time, I was elated because I had gotten very sick of backing up my data to 700 MB CD's. I immediately went home and burned 10 discs that very night. I had no problems.
