The Nikon D700 SLR Digital Camera brings professional imaging with a full frame image sensor to a lightweight yet durable camera body. It features the exclusive 12.1 Megapixel FX-format CMOS sensor, measuring 23.9 x 36mm, which is nearly identical to the size of a 35mm film frame - thereby eliminating any significant crop factor or focal length multiplier. Images taken with the D700 exhibit exceptional overall quality, broad tonal range and depth, along with extremely low-noise throughout its expansive ISO range of 200 to 6400. Nikon's exclusive EXPEED Image Processing System is central to driving the speed and processing power needed for many of the camera's features; such as the 51-point auto focus system and speedy 5 fps frame advance, and the camera incorporates many of the features that have made point-and-shoot digital cameras so popular - such as Live View, Auto ISO, and in-camera image enhancement. Pros Professional features and images, robust, pro build quality.
Cons Initial cost to purchase.
Recommended it? Yes

The Nikon D200 digital SLR is Nikon's first 10.2 MP camera and while it offers a little less resolution than Nikon's current flagship, the D2Xs, it provides users with professional level features and images at a less than full scale professional price.

Like most people here I wrote a a glowing review when I had first purchased the D200. This can be a poor time to write because people can be hypnotized by an expensive new toy.

Over a period of six months I have changed my opinion about this camera. There are problems with this camera and... Read full review »

A D3 in D300 clothing. a great camera but not a great value

byehwang Sep 21, 2008
21 Helpfuls 22 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Great image quality. High speed, low noise. No focal-length factors. Weatherproof...
Cons Price. You could buy 2 D300s for one D700. DX lenses crop to 5.1 megapixel
Recommended it? Yes

I bought the D700 as my primary camera and relegated my D300 to backup status. All I really wanted was a second body but in hindsight I think the D700 is overpriced for the image quality improvements and the few additional features it offers.

First a little background. I have been shooting... Read full review »

Cons No movies mode, no articulated LCD.
